Fourth – Offer the Prayer of Salman

To commence the observance called the prayer of Salman, which is to be performed as follows:

Offer ten rak’ahs, giving salaam after every two rakahs. In each rakah recite al-Fatihah once, and Surat al-Tawhid and Surat al-kafirun three times each.

10 rak’at prayer 2 x 5
Niyyat – Qurbatan ilaAllah
Rak’at 1 – Surat al-Hamd + Surat al-Kafiroon x 3 + Surat Tawhid x 3
Rak’at 2 – Surat al-Hamd + Surat al-Kafiroon x 3 + Surat Tawhid x 3

After the salam, raise your hands and say,

Translation: There is no god except Allah: He is One and has no partner. To Him belongs all sovereignty and to Him belongs all praise. He gives life and causes death, and He is the Living One who never dies, All choice lies in His hands. and He has power over all things.

Then say …

Translation: O Allah, there is none who can prevent what You give and none can give what You withhold, One’s wealth and fortune are of no avail against You.

Then draw your hands on your face. This prayer is performed in the same manner on the fifteenth day of Rajab, but instead of the dua just mentioned, after the words

say,

Translation: (He is) the Single, one, Singular, and All-Embracing God. He has taken neither any partner nor child.

The prayer is performed in the same manner on the last day of the month. However, after the words

say,

Translation: May Allah send salutations upon Muhammad and his family, the pure one. There is no power or force except what derives from Allah, the All-exalted and All-Supreme.

Then draw your hands on your face and make your request. One should not neglect the benefits of this prayers, which are many.

Know that there is also another prayer, associated with Hadhrat Salman, for the first day of this month, which consists of ten rak’ahs with al-Fatihah recited once and Surat al-Tawhid three times in each rak’ah. Among its many virtues are forgiveness of sins, safety from the ordeals of the grave and torments of the Day of Resurrection and its reciter’s recovery from leprosy, leukoderma, and pneumonia.
Sayyid Ibn Tawus has also cited a four rak’ah prayer for this day in the lqbal and those interested may refer to that book.

According to one report lmam Muhammad al-Baqir (as) was born on this day in 57 H, though according to Sheikh Abbas Qummi’s opinion the 3rd of Safar is the more probable date.
According to a report the auspicious birth of Imam Ali al-Naqi (as) occurred on the 2nd day of this month in 212 H. and he died on the 3rd of this month in Samarra in 254 H. According to Ibn Ayyash, the birth of Imam Muhammad al-Taqi (as) occurred on the 10th of this month.
